Engineering & Robotics

From the Classroom to the Field

Our engineering and robotics program start in the early grades with students first earning basic engineering, coding, and innovaion in tour elementary STREAM classes, and then more computer science concepts and an opportunity to get hands-on robotics experience in the computer science and STEM courses at AMD middle school. At the Ossining High School, students take both engineering and robotics courses that extend into our after school engineering and robotics club for those students who want to do more with computer science, engineering, and robotics.

Ossining Robotics Team

Our award-winning First Robotics Competition team has been at the forefront of innovation, qualifying and competing it to the World's championships, in Houston, TX, 11 years in the last 13 years, and making it to the playoffs of the championships for the first time in 2025!

Robotics Competitions

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition operated by FIRST. Each year, teams of high school students, coaches, and mentors work to build robots capable of competing in that year's game. Starting with a Kit of Parts, teams of high school students design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game, released in January. They compete on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance in the spirit of Coopertition®. In 360-degree learning guided by adult mentors, each FIRST® Robotics Competition team also creates a team identity, raises funds to meet its goals, and advances appreciation for STEM in its community. FIRST Robotics Competition is one of five robotics competition programs organized by FIRST. In OUFSD, we are focusing on building other teams starting at the elementary with the First LEGO Leagues, and then building a FIRST Tech Challenge team so that our students have an opportunity to compete at every school level from elementary to high school.
